About Me

 

Charles Boyd has been at the forefront of the hospitality and events industry for over three decades.  

In 1978 he moved to London and began work as a manager at the historic Butchers’ Livery Hall in the City. In 1983 he struck out on his own and founded the multi-award winning ‘Chester Boyd’, London’s City caterers, with the Worshipful Company of Butchers as 40% shareholders. Charles had soon secured 13 venue contracts, including the Queen’s Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace, had employed over 400 staff and was running between 70 and 100 separate events each week.  

A number of highly regarded industry awards followed. In 1996 Chester Boyd won the ‘Booker Prize for Excellence as Top Caterer’, in 1997 the Institute of Management’s ‘Company of the Year’ and then in 2001 the industry’s ‘Oscar’ and ultimate award: the Catey Award for ‘Best Caterer’.  

In April 2009, he founded the Hamilton Boyd Group. A collection of hospitality brands providing innovative and forward thinking solutions for events and hospitality. From wich the venue 8 Northumberland Avenue won two Venue Technology awards for pioneering Intelligent lighting, and holographic telepresense in a venue.
